This 21mm lens (in 35mm equiv.) is the widest lens among the XF lenses as of June 2013. I think this focal length is very interesting because it's hard to master due to the strong feeling of perspective and the power to include many things in front of the photographer. But, once you mastered it, you can get a new worldview that you couldn't get from normal focal length. It's not too wide like 10mms, yet it can moderately include things outside of normal visual field. The XF14mm F2.8 R takes great pictures in a variety of settings because it wonderfully resolves to the corners with minimal distortion.

I took this shot because I wanted to check tonality. Although I shot a little under, the shadow still has some detail. This lens seems to bring out the camera's high performance.

With an ultra wide angle lens, you can set the perspective like this. Resolution power is great across the entire frame.

It's also fun to use it as a wide macro lens by getting close to the subject. By shooting wide open, you can enjoy bokeh even with a wide angle lens.
