SONY SEL70200G FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS

[Zoom] Wide-zoom | Standard-zoom | Tele-zoom | High-zoom
[Fixed-focal] Wide angle | Standard | Telephoto | Macro

The new SONY high-end full-size format telephoto zoom lens has the "G" sign which promises outstanding image quality. The excellent build quality and the proud white finish will trigger photographers' enthusiasm for sure. Because of the constant F4 aperture, it's much more compact than the fast telephoto zoom for full-size format and you'll find it more practical. The bokeh is large enough and with the high sensitivity performance of the Alpha 7 series, it can make a highly efficient set. The image quality is in the level we expect from this class, but it's rather soft and natural than crispy and contrasty. It even captures the depth of the air in the scene. Anyway, this is a great lens that the E-mount users can't miss.

You may not shoot the scene like this unless you are a serious photographer. Or, maybe even a serious photographer won't shoot it. But, lens performance becomes most salient in such an ordinary scene. It captured the very air of the rural scene with low contrast under the thick clouds. I stopped down to depict each power line clearly.

The clarity is high and the bokeh is natural. The cropping capability of 70-200mm focal length can be applied to a variety of scenes including portraits and landscapes. And, the image quality is something that the kit lens can't achieve, and I strongly recommend this lens to someone who wants to step up from the entry level.

Without a telephoto lens, you can't capture this atmosphere. It's tele-end and wide open. Although it becomes less sharp than when stopped down, it captured the quality of the misty air and I think I could better express the relaxing time.

This one is also shot wide open at the tele-end. The long working distance lets you shoot cautious subjects taking time. The shorter the distance from the subject is, the thinner the depth of field becomes and it lets you melt the background. But, this cat didn't give me a smile... Communication is the key for photography, isn't it?

Brave men carrying a portable shrine in defiance of the water. This lens lets you shoot from a distance, which is impossible for lenses of standard focal lengths.
How cool they look. I'd like to participate it someday.

The sun goes down again and tomorrow brings its own subjects.
And, that's why we're into photography, aren't we?
