Nikon Ai AF DC-Nikkor 135mm f/2D

[Zoom] Wide-zoom | Standard-zoom | Tele-zoom | High-zoom
[Fixed-focal] Wide angle | Standard | Telephoto | Macro

Just like the DC-Nikkor 105mm F2D, it has the DC (Defocus Image Control) mechanism. Because it's longer than 105mm, it takes great portraits particularly when shooting from some distance. Of course, you can always use it as a regular 135mm lens without controlling the defocus image. Or, just like the image above, it takes fantastic landscape shots by controlling the defocus image. And, 135mm focal length and F2 max aperture generate big bokeh wide open. Want something extraordinary? Take this one into heavy consideration.

Unlike latest lenses, the rendition is tasty rather than clear and crisp. There seems to be flair on this shot, but it's just because I shot through the window glass. Yet, the focal plane is very sharp and the bokeh is soft. In addition, the tonal gradation is smooth.

Even though it's a portrait lens, it's sharp wide open even at infinity.

I should give first priority to back bokeh on this shot, but I tried to see what happens if I changed the priority to front bokeh. Sometimes, it's fun to be played by lenses, isn't it?
