The AF-S NIKKOR 50mm F1.4G is the update to the Ai AF Nikkor 50mm F1.4D with a ROM transmitting distance information and it doesn't have the aperture ring. With the high speed of F1.4, it has a variety of applications including macro, portraits, and low light. The bokeh can be quirky in a limited situation and changes according to aperture value, but the process to learn the character and master it is another joy of using this lens just like we did with old lenses.

I got very close to the subject and shot wide open. The shiny and grainy feel of the strawberry in the center looks sharp. While the back bokeh is natural, the shiny part of the front bokeh looks jumpy. If someone asks how you took this image, you'll feel so happy and rewarded!

Shot in a dark situation. By stepping down a bit, the dial and the edge of the steel case look naturally sharp. And, the bokeh is sweet.
The soft rendition wide open is even healing, and this is why we need F1.4.
