The X10 is the smallest X camera featuring a small sensor. But the image quality is higher than you expect. The 2/3-inch sensor, which is comparably large for a sensor for a compact camera, has a color filter array rotated 45 degrees. This works to generate incredibly fine image quality outputs which are beyond what we imagine from the size of the camera. It has an almighty 28mm-112mm equivalent F2.0-F2.8 zoom lens. While it's true that the X-Pro1 and the X100 takes even higher quality images, the X10 still shines because of the convenient zoom lens and portability. And, like other X cameras, it's premium camera that is highly functional as well. So, I would recommend this camera to just anybody.

High image quality and high definition. Believe it or not, it's a compact camera.
Image quality of cameras featuring small sensors used to pale against cameras with larger sensors, but this camera takes surprisingly excellent pictures. Of course, when viewed in original size, it doesn't compare with the one of APS-C sensors. But, it's high enough to view at monitor's size, or to post to the Internet, or to print on an L size paper. And, the output size of 4000x3000px contributes to the rich reproduction of texture and tone.
Zoom lens just shoots in any situation.
The zoom range from wide to telephoto is perfect for everyday scenes and the brightness throughout the zoom range expands shooting opportunity. It's also convenient for wedding, indoor, let alone evening/night shooting. And, the thick depth of field realized by the small sensor makes it easier to shoot in lowlight conditions.
For travel and everyday photography
It goes into the pocket and looks natural even with a small baggage. It's a stylish camera for walking and short trip, and it still takes wonderful images. Although the X-Pro1 and the X100 are great cameras because of the fixed-focal lenses, they can be difficult to master. The X10 is an all-round camera for anybody and it takes just about anything without a difficulty.

Even though the X10 may appear to be ranked lower than other X cameras, this is a perfect compact camera targeted to all level of users. Only serious shooters carry cameras everyday, but the majority still want cameras to be small. The X10 has the size and performance that meet their needs. Or, if you want a digital camera but don't know what to choose, try this camera because I'm sure you'll like the style and usability. Remember when you started to enjoy writing after switching from a ballpoint pen to a fountain pen? You'll feel the same way when you switch to this camera.
