CASIO EXILIM EX-FR10 | SHOOTING REPORT

This digital camera consists of a camera unit and a detachable monitor controller unit. Using the Bluetooth connection, the monitor not only shows the liveview images transmitted from the camera unit, but also enables remote shutter releasing. And, of course, you can shoot from a variety of angles including the one for selfies. Besides, the camera unit weighs only 63 grams and it's shock/weather resistant. So, you can use it as an action camera, too. In short, the EX-FR10 is a camera lets you shoot from any angle and in any field.

The camera unit on the left and the monitor/controller unit on the right. The diameter of the camera unit is about 6cm, which is just like a large G-Shock. And, if you stretch the hinge of the camera unit's stand and insert it to the monitor/controller unit until it locks, they are fixed together. The 2-inch color monitor supports touch-panel operation including flicking and touch shutter, so you can use it just like a smartphone. The Bluetooth communication starts instantly after turning the power on, so you no longer have to wait until the connection is established. The monitor can receive images from the cameras within 5 meters and the remote shutter release is supported with 10 meters as long as there's no interfering signal. The camera unit also has the Wi-Fi, so you can control via smartphone instead of the controller. How sweet!

I used the optional attachment EAM-3 to fix it on my forearm. Now, start the engine!

Even though the camera unit has the power switch, shutter button, and movie button, don't operate it while driving! Instead, you can use the interval shooting function that shoots still photos or movies at regular intervals. All you have to do is select the time of interval (15sec/2min/5min) and the format (still only/movie only/the both). Because it shoots in the timings you don't intend to, it's very interesting. Of course, some shots can be questionable, but that's OK.

If you put it on the piano, you can shoot from this unique angle easily. Oh, I almost forgot talking about the specs. The sensor is 14-megapixel 1/2.3-inch CMOS (backside illumination) and the angle of view of the lens is equivalent to 21mm in 35mm format (F2.8).

You can also use it to check your forms in sports. The movie function supports Full HD. This image was shot with still mode, though.

The IPX6/IPS7 waterproof body lets you shoot underwater. However, note that you cannot press the shutter button underwater. Instead, you can set the interval shooting function before putting into the water.

Freedom and enjoyment are beyond imagination

The wide angle lens is perfect for landscapes. Even when the camera unit is attached to the controller, it weighs only 175 grams. And, by combining the units, you can use it as a regular compact digital camera.

So, you already have your own ideas of using this camera? Great! The EX-FR10 resets our old brain filled with preconceptions about a camera, and it invites us to try something new and have so much fun.
