Finally, a telephoto zoom lens is added to Fujifilm's best XF lens line up. There have been several single focal lenses and a standard zoom lens, but no telephoto zoom lens. So, this is a good news for existing X series users and those who are thinking about getting it. I wanted to pull subjects with my X-E1 and now I'm happy about the release. It covers a range from 84mm to 305mm in 35mm equivalent and it has the optical image stabilization with a 4.5 stops claimed benefit. So, your chance for shooting will be expanded more than ever. I shot in a variety of conditions and I felt this lens is resistant against backlight and it's very solid. This lens is a little bigger than other XF lenses, but it's still compact for the spec. This is a lens you can depend on and it will even change your shooting style.

What I should emphasize first is the high resistance to the backlight. Despite the severe angle, the contrast remains high, and the depiction is surprisingly rich and minute. Plus, there's no ghost and flare. I guess this is because of the excellent lens design and coating. Because of this performance, I can shoot with any angle without worry.

Shot in a little backlight situation. I'm amazed by the fine depiction of the white birches because they look emerging. At the scene, I felt like the fresh green is glowing by itself, and this picture shows exactly what I saw.

The daffodil was blooming in the shadow. I shot under to isolate it from the shadow. The minimum focus distance is 1.1m, so you can extract subjects from daily scenes.

You can take macro photography by shooting at around the minimum focus distance. I shot over quite a bit, but the highlight tonality looks beautiful.
