The APS-C compatible Tokina AT-X 11-20 PRO DX boasts the F2.8 high speed and the wide zoom range between 17.6mm and 32mm in 35mm format. This is wider than 17.6mm and 25.6mm of their AT-X 116 PRO DX II with the same speed. Yet, the weight is only 10g heavier and the diameter is just 5mm longer.

I shot wide open inside the building utilizing the wideness. Surprisingly, it's already sharp to the corners. I struggled to find the best angle and the first shot turned to be the best one. Sounds familiar, huh?

The tonal gradation between highlight and shadow is perfect. In addition, the resolution of the clothes is high even though it was shot through the window glass.

Wide open. The bicycle's frame and the guardrail have a 3D quality even under the shadow. The bokeh of the asphalt makes me want to shoot wide open actively.

Although there're many flowers with the same color, I can still distinguish each one.

The minimum focus distance is 28cm, which is extremely short considering the distance between the sensor and the front element. Try to get really close and fine-tune zooming by turning the ring with a nice torque. And, you can switch to MF instantly with the "one-touch focus clutch mechanism."。

It resolved from the back of the parent and child to the view ahead of them. I stopped down by only one step, but it's amazingly sharp.

Leave all wide shots to this lens

The zoom range is so wide and the speed is very high. Plus, the image quality is excellent. Of course, it can be a little loose in some conditions, but excellent for the specification. In terms of optical design, the P-MO aspherical front element, the glass molded aspherical element in the back group, and the three SD (Super-low Dispersion) glasses are arranged carefully to minimize the various aberrations including distortion.

As you can see the image above, the projected barrel allows the use of a 82mm filter such as ND, C-PL, and protective. Even though it's F2.8 large diameter lens, the think neck makes it look fairly compact for a prime wide zoom and I could shoot light with the EOS 70D. This lens is ideal for snapshots, landscapes, and traveling. The name "PRO" only explains its high performance and the target users are of course everyone.
